GM 3.0L and 3.6L Engine Oil Filter Recommendation

GM 3.0L and 3.6L Engine Oil Filter Recommendation

Select GM 3.0L and 3.6L LGX and LGW engines operate at a higher oil pressure output than in prior versions of these engines. This elevated oil pressure required ACDelco to change
its recommendation for the oil filter on these engines from ACDelco PF63E to PF63F.

Service Pro recognized this potential issue early on and introduced changes to its oil filter model M2500 in 2018. This was an ongoing change that did not require the introduction of a
new model number as some manufacturers have recently done.

The Service Pro M2500 is recommended on the following GM applications with 3.0L and 3.6L V6 engines:

  • Buick Lacrosse 2017 2019 3.6L V6 LGX
    • Regal 2018 2019 3.6L V6 LGX
  • Cadillac CT6 2016 2019 3.0L V6 LGW & 3.6L V6 LGX
    • ATS, CTS 2016 2019 3.6L V6 LGX
    • XT5 2017 2019 3.6L V6 LGX
  • Chevrolet Camaro 2016 2019 3.6L V6 LGX
    • Blazer 2019 2019 3.6L V6 LGX
  • GMC Acadia 2017 2019 3.6L V6 LGX

The changes made to the M2500 to meet the ACDelco PF63F specifications include:

  • Base plate thickness has been increased
  • Can thickness has been increased
  • Pressure relief valve opening has been increased
  • Burst strength has been increased
